Committment to Christ

So, you've decided to join as a member to Christ's body, or maybe you made that decision years ago. How have you shown Him your commitment? How have you shown Him love?
Matthew 10:39

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

There are many "things" in this world that take your attention away from God and anything worthwhile. Television comes to mind. The news, for instance, focuses entirely on negative worldly things. The only time God is mentioned is during a huge disaster (and everyone is afraid of the end of the world). In a week or so, God is forgetten again. The only exception is when they speak of God or His followers in a negative way.

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God.

A coworker once told me she told me how her father-in-law reads the Bible for 1-½ hours a day. This inspired me. To be honest, I have very rarely, if ever, read the Bible for a complete hour. Lately, I have found myself picking up the Bible more and more. There are amazing things to learn in the Bible. You have no idea how many lies are in our world today and we accept them because we haven't read our Bible.

So far, I have read the entire New Testament and have worked through Proverbs in the Old. It is my goal to finish by the end of September. At that point, I will start over. Each time you read a passage you are given a fuller understanding from God.

One step in getting closer to God is learning what He wants.
